About the Program
The Citizens Police Academy is a great way to learn about the Claremore Police Department. The goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to provide students with a better understanding of the Claremore Police Department and what a police officer does on a daily basis. The Claremore Police Department Citizens Academy is an 11-week, 3-hour per week course.
Police Academy participants receive intense abbreviated instruction in law enforcement from various professionals such as District Judges, District Attorney, City Attorney, local defense attorney and various law enforcement agencies.
Instruction will include, among others:
Criminal law and investigation
The department’s history
Recruit selection and training
Traffic investigation and enforcement
Use of force
Goal & Applications
The program is designed to promote education, participation and cooperation between the Police Department and the citizens we serve. Captain Milburn Litterell oversees the Citizens Police Academy and was instrumental in getting it organized.
The 2017 Claremore Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy will begin February 28, 2017 and run through May 9, 2017.
The Claremore Police Department will be accepting applications for the 2017 Citizens Police Academy through January 28, 2017. Applications can be picked up and returned at the Claremore Police Department Records Department Monday through Friday 8:00am until 5:00pm.
